Homemade Hard Lotion Bars

This is a quick project with simple ingredients that will make you feel like you accomplished something earthy and natural and crafty today. You know, if that's something that makes you happy.  I'm pretty sure my husband is laughing in the other room.  But you know what, considering the time he puts into his fantasy baseball team . . .

Anyway.  I prefer to use natural health and beauty products, but the store-bought versions can be expensive and homemade recipes often have many steps or multiple ingredients that I don't have on hand.
However, these homemade lotion bars from MadeOn are super simple.  They can be purchased already-made, as a DIY kit, or you can just do the whole shebang yourself.  I made them in-between the making of a low key dinner the other night, and it literally took about 10 minutes of hands-on time (with kids running around).  The directions are here, right under the video for the DIY kit, and there are other recipes on that page you might find interesting.  I added essential oils for fragrance, about 7 drops per oz, and made the "bars" in my mini-muffin silicon pans.  Now I have little lotion bars in every corner of the house, and if that doesn't make a person happy, I really can't help you.  Certainly not as convenient as the pump lotion, but much more effective and not greasy.

The ingredients might seem exotic, but they are all reasonably priced and easily found on Amazon:

essential oils:

beeswax:

 shea butter:

and coconut oil:

Bottom line; lotion bars: yummy for your skin, easy to make.
