Yep, I just said paradigms. This is a very good YouTube video about the way we think about education and the ways we continue to educate our children according to what has been done in the past. I am NOT posting this to criticize teachers. I know from first hand experience and more that there are many good traditionally-modeled schools and many, many excellent teachers pouring out their hearts within that framework. Yet still we are generally not getting what we want and need from our schools, and obviously the answer is not better-educated teachers. Our teachers (most, not all, of course) come out of college with more training and strategies than ever before, and still literacy rates fall, and student performance fails to meet expectations. This little video will challenge your thinking about that situation in a critical way.
