Woven Newspaper Baskets

I actually got this idea from my Family Fun magazine (which I love and highly recommend to any one who has or works with children).  My middle schoolers grumped a bit about how hard it was to weave the pieces together, but they got over it and seemed happy with their baskets in the end.  And seriously, they grump when I ask them to write their first and last name on a project, so I don't pay it (the grumpiness) too much attention.
Anyway, some students chose to leave the newspaper exposed, so we sprayed those with a clear gloss, and others used opaque spray paint.
