Have You Seen the Trees?
Certainly it is raining a lot here in the Willamette Valley, but there are benefits; one of those benefits being that spring announces its arrival a little bit earlier than in the high desert.
My kids have been quite excited to witness the blooming of the cherry blossom tress, so lovely. Naturally, the art teacher in me turned it into an easy project. First we read this book, with it's beautiful illustrations.
Then I had the kids paint the trees in their winter brown-ness. We finished up with q-tip painting using a swirled red/white/pink paint. I added more red to the paint partway through to add dimension to their "flowers." Quick and easy, with nice results, even from a two-year-old.
